Asset management
The rehabilitation and replacement of pavement, bridges and other infrastructure. The majority of MnDOT highway construction projects are pavement and bridge projects.
Targeted safety improvements
Improvements to reduce the number of crashes and people injured or killed on Minnesota state highways
Mobility and capacity expansion
Improvements to traffic flow, congestion relief and travel time reliability, the movement of freight or that create new connections for active transportation users.
Specialty programs
MnDOT manages a variety of special programs with specific objectives. The programs either are established in state or federal statutes, have a limited specialized purpose and/or use a competitive application process to select projects.
