MnDOT seeks applicants for Minnesota Rail Service Improvement Program grant funding
Railroad companies, rail users, cities and counties can apply for grant funding to improve freight rail service that supports economic development through the Minnesota Department of Transportation’s 2018 Minnesota Rail Service Improvement Program. Applications are due Nov. 16.
This is the first time MnDOT is offering a competitive solicitation for grants for economic development.

FHWA Approves Minnesota Statewide Freight System and Investment Plan
On January 23, 2018, MnDOT received notification from the Federal Highway Administration (FHWA) that MnDOT’s plan met the requirements of the Fixing America's Surface Transportation Act (FAST Act) for State Freight Plans. To view the plan please visit the freight plan website.
MnDOT and State Patrol developing Weight Enforcement Investment Plan
The Minnesota State Patrol and the Minnesota Department of Transportation have been working collaboratively to develop a ten-year investment plan focused on the operational, maintenance and investment needs for commercial vehicle weight and safety enforcement.
An online-interactive webinar was held on June 12th with an introduction to the effort and a survey to gain input from the public and trucking stakeholders. A recording of the webinar is now available on Youtube here.
