Highway 200 to be detoured in Hill City starting Sept. 2

DULUTH, Minn. –  The Minnesota Department of Transportation will be detouring Highway 200 west of Highway 169 from Sept. 2 to Sept. 18 to continue construction of a roundabout at the intersection. The detour will run on 380th Avenue to 678th Street to Highway 169. Traffic will begin using the roundabout at this time except for travelling westbound on Highway 200.  Project work is expected to last through October.

Work zone safety tips

  • Obey posted speed limits. The fine for speeding in a work zone is $300.
  • Drive undistracted. Avoid using cell phones, mobile devices, adjusting the radio – even eating –while in work zones.
  • Move over. Give workers room to safely complete their work.

  • Be patient. Expect delays, especially during peak travel times.
  • Do the  zipper merge.
  • Avoid making unnecessary lane changes.
  • Never enter a road blocked with barriers or cones.
