Westbound I-94 closed east of Barnesville due to flooding
DETROIT LAKES, Minn. —– (4:30 a.m.) Westbound Interstate 94, between Hwy 108 and Hwy 34 near Barnesville, is closed due to water over the road at mile marker 30, according to the Minnesota Department of Transportation. Traffic should use Exit 32 and follow the signed interstate alternate routes.
Westbound I-94 will reopen in this area when water levels have receded.
When a road is closed it is illegal to travel in that area. Motorists can be fined up to $1,000 and/or 90 days in jail. In addition, if travelers need to be rescued from a closed road, other expenses and penalties will apply.
