Highway 19 east of Henderson to Highway 169 closed at noon on June 19, due to flooding from the Minnesota River. Traffic is detoured to Highway 19 west of Henderson, Sibley County Road 17 (391st Avenue), Sibley County Road 8 (336th Street), and Highway 169.

Hwy 19 east of Henderson to Hwy 169 expected to close due to flooding

MANKATO, Minn. – Highway 19 from Henderson to Highway 169 is expected to close either later tonight (June 17), or on Tuesday, June 18 due to flooding from the Minnesota River, according to the Minnesota Department of Transportation.

Current forecasted river levels indicate that historically the highway could be closing sometime soon. Motorists should monitor 511mn.org for current road information.

With Highway 93 closed due to construction, traffic will be detoured to Highway 19 west of Henderson, Sibley County Road 17 (391st Avenue), Sibley Road 8 (336th Street), and Highway 169 (detour map attached), or motorists will need to find an alternate route. Sibley County Road 6 is also closed due to construction.

Highway 19 will reopen to traffic when the water has receded, and crews are able to make any necessary repairs.

When a road is closed it is illegal to travel in that area. Motorists can be fined up to $1,000 and/or 90 days in jail. In addition, if travelers need to be rescued from a closed road, other expenses and penalties will apply.
