Highway 59 and Highway 67 intersection in Clarkfield reopens

WILLMAR, Minn. – The intersection of Highway 59 and Highway 67 in Clarkfield has reopened the morning of June 6, 2024, according to the Minnesota Department of Transportation. BNSF Railway crews have completed the replacement of the railroad tracks at this intersection. Crews are currently working to remove their equipment. Motorists are advised to slow down and drive with caution in the area.

MnDOT continues to reconstruct Highway 67 from Highway 59 to 6th Street in Clarkfield. The project includes storm sewer replacement, water main replacement, sidewalk replacement, and pedestrian ramp additions to meet Americans with Disabilities Act standards. Highway 67 will remain closed from Highway 59 to 6th street. Through traffic is being routed to Highway 59, and County Roads 5 and 8 (see attached map). The detour will be in place until Nov. 1 when the project is expected to be complete.

MnDOT project benefits and cost
Benefits of the project include a smoother road surface, improved storm sewer system and drainage, updated pedestrian crossings, as well as a state and city infrastructure that will continue to serve their purpose for many years. R and G Construction is the contractor, and the project cost is approximately $4.7 million.
