Additional I-94/I-494/I-694 Interchange ramp closures begin May 29

Roseville, Minn. – Motorists will encounter new ramp closures on Interstate 94 in Woodbury starting May 29 as the Minnesota Department of Transportation continues to repave the I-94 lanes and entrance and exit ramps between Oakdale and the St. Croix River.

Starting at 7 a.m. on Wednesday, May 29, the following I-494/Tamarack Road interchange ramps will be closed to traffic until late October:

  • Tamarack Road to southbound I-494. Motorists can bypass this ramp closure using Tamarack Road, Weir Drive, Valley Creek Road and southbound I-494.
  • Northbound I-494 to Tamarack Road. Motorists can bypass this ramp closure using Valley Creek Road, Bielenberg Drive and Tamarack Road.

Closing these ramps will allow motorists to safely navigate the detour routes for two new I-94/I-494/I-694 ramp closures

  • Westbound I-94 to northbound I-694. Motorists can bypass this ramp closure using westbound I-94, southbound I-494, Tamarack Road and northbound I-494/I-694.
  • Southbound I-694 to westbound I-94. Motorists can bypass this ramp closure using southbound I-494, Tamarack Road, northbound I-494 and westbound I-94.

Also starting at 7 p.m. on Friday, May 31, construction crews will reopen the ramps from westbound I-94 to southbound I-494 and northbound I-494 to westbound I-94.

All construction activities and traffic impacts are weather dependent and subject to change. MnDOT urges motorists to always be attentive, drive with caution and slow down in work zones where workers are present.

MnDOT is resurfacing the pavement and making other improvements to I-94 between Highway 120/Century Avenue and the St. Croix River through fall 2024. The work will improve safety, traffic flow and ride smoothness.
