MnDOT will reconstruct and improve 12 miles of road on Hwy 71 and Hwy 87 from Sebeka to Menahga, Wadena County. This work will require detours during 2028 construction.

Hwy 71

• Reconstruct from 3rd St. SE to the Blueberry River in Menahga
  • Replace sanitary sewer and upgrade stormwater system
  • Upgrade pedestrian sidewalk, approach ramps, and crossings
• Reconstruct the road surface (reclaim) from the Redeye River in Sebeka to 3rd St. SE in Menahga

Hwy 87

• Reconstruct the road surface (reclaim) from the Becker/Wadena county line to Fir Ave.
• Resurface (mill and overlay) from Fir Ave. to
  Hwy 71

Future impacts

This project will reclaim and overlay the road surface, which involves recycling the existing surface. This process requires segments of road closures with detours. More information will be available closer to 2028 construction.
