Overnight work April 17—May 3

Daytime work May 5 to mid-July

  • Hwy 12 will stay open with one lane in each direction from west of 13th Ave. to east of Sixth Ave.
    • Drivers should expect narrow lanes, lane shifts, gravel surfaces and flaggers directing traffic. Shoulders and turn lanes will close temporarily
    • Pedestrians will encounter sidewalk closures, follow detour signs
    • Work will occur mostly between 7 a.m. and 7 p.m.

Howard Lake is open

Access to businesses and residents will be maintained and open, however, expect use of alternate entrances or side streets, includes sidewalk detours.

Crews will return to all three cities in the fall to apply the final road surface and permanent markings.

  • Resurface Hwy 12 with a new asphalt road surface from west of 13th Ave. to east of Sixth Ave.
  • Reconstruct or repair concrete curbs, gutters and entrances
  • Improve and update pedestrian access:
  • Reconstruct segments of sidewalks and ramp approaches between 13th Ave. and Sixth Ave.
    • Reconstruct and widen the sidewalk in a two block area in the downtown district between Ninth Ave. and Seventh Ave.
    • Update pedestrian crosswalk signal systems

  • Reconstruct or repair concrete curbs, gutters and entrances
  • Add a center turn lane at Zephyr Ave. and Arizona Ave. in east Montrose to improve access.
  • Reconstruct the Hwy 12 intersection at Hwy 25 and Wright Co. Rd. 12/Buffalo Ave. S, to improve the truck turning radius and pedestrian crosswalk
