Description:This one-day technical traffic safety training course will convey Safe System Approach (SSA) principles and elements to educate practitioners on implementing the SSA into daily work. SSA methods such as the FHWA Roadway Design Hierarchy, the FHWA Safe System Project-based Alignment Framework, the FHWA Safe System-based Framework and Analytical Methodology for Assessing Intersections, project safety checklists, the FHWA Safe System Approach for Speed Management, the FHWA Primer on Safe System Approach for Pedestrians and Bicyclists, and MnDOT developed resources such as the Facility Design Guide and the Traffic Engineering Manual will be included. Participants will learn best practices to implement a Safe System on the roadway network. 
Audience: MnDOT, city, county, contractor, and consultant personnel.
