In 2026, we will begin a project to repair and resurface Hwy 77 between 138th St. in Apple Valley and the Minnesota River bridge in Eagan. We will also repair ten bridges in the area.

The main needs along this stretch of Hwy 77 are improving pavement conditions, as the pavement is aging, and managing traffic flow. The project will smooth the road surface and strengthen the pavement to improve ride quality.

At this time, there is no funding available for future improvements related to traffic mobility.

Traffic impacts

All traffic impacts are tentative and weather dependent. Access to businesses and residences will be maintained throughout the project.

Upcoming

Information about upcoming traffic impacts will be provided as details become available. Motorists can expect road, lane, ramp and bridge closures during construction. There will be closures during weekends. In 2027, Hwy 77 will have reduced lanes with head-to-head traffic to allow crews to rebuild one side of the highway at a time. Pedestrians can anticipate a closure of the Minnesota River Bridge pedestrian path with a detour using I-35W.
