About the Project
In 2026, The Minnesota Department of Transportation will replace a box culvert on Hwy 71 at Hay Creek, 7 miles north of Park Rapids. The box culvert needs replacement due to aging infrastructure. During construction, the ATV trail adjacent to the bridge will also be improved.
Motorists can expect a detour during construction. Highway 71 will be closed at Hay Creek. Boat access under the bridge will be closed from late June through early August.
The detour will use Hubbard County roads 40 and 4 as well as Highway 200 and Highway 71. Property owners will have access to their homes and businesses during construction.
