NAVIGABLE_WATERS
Abstract:
NAVIGABLE WATER, MINNESOTA represents navigable waterway centerlines within the state of Minnesota. It originated as an arc coverage with the U. S. Army Corps of Engineers. Then MnDOT extracted the arcs that lay within the state boundary. A description of the Navigable Water layer is included in Section 5 of this document - Entity and Attribute Overview.
Purpose:
NAVIGABLE WATER, MINNESOTA was developed to fill a need at Minnesota Department of Transportation for a GIS layer of navigable waterways within the state for planning purposes.

Currentness Reference:
The original digitization was done during the 1990-1995 time period. For any given area, MnDOT used the most recent USGS 7.5-minute quadrangle available at that time. For BaseMap, the following data layer was updated as recently as January 2003 using the most up-to-date available information:
