This map provides an illustrative guide to new and existing traffic impacts set to occur throughout the Twin Cities during the upcoming weekend.

All projects and timelines are dependent on the weather and subject to change.

New this weekend

These impacts are updates from the map we sent out last week.

Hwy 13 Savage to Prior Lake

  • Beginning 6 p.m. Fri, July 20, Hwy 13 will have flagging operations from Hwy 101 in Savage to Co. Rd. 21 in Prior Lake through 6 a.m. Sat, July 21.

I-35E in Little Canada

  • Beginning Mon, July 23, the northbound I-35E ramp to eastbound Hwy 36 will be closed. The ramp will remain closed through late August.

35W@94: Downtown to Crosstown in Minneapolis

  • Beginning 10 p.m. Fri, July 20, 31st St. will be closed between Stevens Ave. and 2nd Ave. through 5 a.m. Mon, July 23.

Hwy 62 in Minneapolis

  • Hwy 62 in Minneapolis from I-35W to Hwy 5 will close at 10 p.m. Fri, July 20 and is scheduled to reopen by 5 a.m. Mon, July 23.
    • Detour: Hwy 5 to I-494 to I-35W

Hwy 169 in Champlin

  • Beginning Fri, July 20, the intersections of 109th Ave, 117th Ave. and East Hayden Lake Rd. between Hwy 169 and Business Park Blvd. N. on the east side of Hwy 169 will reopen.

I-494 in Bloomington

  • Beginning at 10 p.m. Fri, July 20, westbound I-494 will close between Hwy 100 and Hwy 212. The road is scheduled to reopen by 5 a.m. Mon, July 23. Motorists should follow the signed detour using northbound Hwy 100, westbound Hwy 62 and southbound Hwy 212 to I-494 to bypass the closure.

These traffic impacts will happen early next week.

Hwy 62 in Eden Prairie and Edina

  • Beginning Mon, July 23, the ramp from Tracy Ave. to EB Hwy 62 will be closed. The ramp is scheduled to reopen Wed, Aug. 1. 
    • Detour: WB Hwy 62 to Gleason Rd.
  • Beginning Mon, July 23, the ramp from EB Hwy 62 to NB Hwy 169 will be closed. The ramp is scheduled to reopen Fri, Aug. 3. 
    • Detour: EB Hwy 62 to Hwy 100 to WB Hwy 62
  • Beginning Wed, July 25, the ramps from SB Hwy 169 to EB Hwy 62 and Gleason Rd. to WB Hwy 62 will be closed. The ramps are scheduled to reopen Tue, July 31. 
    • Detours: For the SB Hwy 169 to EB Hwy 62 closure take SB 169 to east I-494 to NB Hwy 100. For the Gleason Rd. to WB Hwy 62 closure take Hwy 62 east to Tracy Ave. to WB Hwy 62.

Hwy 65 in Ham Lake

  • Beginning Mon, July 23, work begins at the intersection of 157th Ave. through fall.

Hwy 169 in Champlin

  • Beginning Mon, July 23, 114th Ave. on the east side of Hwy 169 will be closed.
  • Beginning Wed, July 25, 120th Ave. on the east side of Hwy 169 will be closed.

Existing and ongoing

These projects have already begun and continue to have traffic impacts. No new impacts related to these projects are beginning this weekend.

Hwy 3 in Inver Grove Heights

  • Hwy 3 will be closed between Hwy 149 and Hwy 55 through fall 2018.

Hwy 7 Minnetonka to St. Louis Park

  • The free right turn lane from Fifth Ave. N. in Hopkins to Hwy 7 is closed through August. Motorists should go to the light and turn right.
  • Watch for lane closures on Hwy 7 and to accesses to local streets through September.

35W@94: Downtown to Crosstown in Minneapolis

  • The access to downtown (11th St/5th Ave. S/E. Grant St) from NB I-35W is closed through fall 2018 and the access out of downtown (from 12th St./4th Ave.) to SB I-35W is closed through fall 2021.
  • WB I-94 is reduced to two lanes from Chicago Ave. to Nicollet Ave. through fall 2018. SB I-35W is reduced to two lanes from downtown Minneapolis to 43rd St. through fall 2019. NB I-35W is reduced to three lanes from 43rd St. to downtown Minneapolis through fall 2021.
  • Here are some of the ramp closures:
    • EB I-94 to SB I-35W is closed through fall 2021.
      • Detour: NB I-394 to WB Hwy 100 to SB Hwy 62
    • NB I-35W to WB I-94 is closed through fall 2021.
      • Detour: WB I-694
  • The following bridges are closed:
    • The 24th St. pedestrian bridge over I-35W until fall 2021.
  • There are several other road, lane, ramp and local street closures.

I-35 North Metro Split from Lino Lakes to Forest Lake

  • NB I-35 is reduced to two lanes and separated with concrete barriers between Hwy 97 and Hwy 8. Motorists, should expect congestion and allow yourself extra time if driving through the area.
  • SB I-35 will periodically be reduced to two lanes near Hwy 8 in Forest Lake through late August.

I-35W Minneapolis to Roseville

  • NB/SB I-35W is reduced by one lane between 4th St. and Co. Rd. C through Fri, Oct. 12.
  • The following ramps to/from NB I-35W will be closed from 10 p.m. to 6 a.m. Mon. through Fri. through Fri, Oct. 12 (these ramps will not be closed consecutively):
    • 4th St. SE
    • SE 11th St.
    • Johnson St/New Brighton Blvd/Stinson Blvd.
    • Industrial Blvd.

Hwy 36 Stillwater Lift Bridge

  • The Hwy 36 Stillwater Lift Bridge over the St. Croix River between Stillwater, MN and Houlton, WI is closed to ALL traffic. It will reopen for pedestrian and bicycle traffic in June of 2019.
  • Traffic has been transferred to the new St. Croix Crossing Bridge to the south in Oak Park Heights.

Hwy 41 Chaska

  • Hwy 41 is closed between Hundertmark Rd. and Pioneer Trl. through early September
    • Primary Detour: Hwy 212, Powers Blvd., Lyman Blvd.

Hwy 50 in Farmington

  • Hwy 50 is reduced to a single lane with flaggers in both directions between 4:30 a.m. and 5 p.m. through late July. While crews work, there may be early morning noise throughout the project area.
  • The Co. Rd. 80 intersection at Hwy 50 is closed through late August.

Hwy 62 in Eden Prairie and Edina

  • EB and WB Hwy 62 are reduced to a single lane from Shady Oak Rd. to I-494 through Mon, Aug. 13.
  • Access to and from Hwy 62 at Clearwater Dr. is closed through Sat, July 28.

I-94 East Metro (Woodbury to St. Paul)

  • All major road construction is complete. However, crews are finishing up several minor wrap-up items over the next few weeks. Work is expected to be complete by late July.

Hwy 95/Manning Ave. Woodbury to Denmark Twp.

  • Hwy 95 is closed in both directions from Bailey Rd. to 70th St. through Fri, Sept. 7.
    • Primary Detour: 70th St, Woodbury Dr. (Co. Rd. 19), Bailey Rd.

Hwy 149 High Bridge in St. Paul

  • The Hwy 149 High Bridge is closed through December 2018.
    • Primary Detour: Annapolis St. to Robert St to Kellogg Blvd to West 7th St. to Smith Ave/Hwy 149
  • An Xcel Energy project is underway along Hwy 149/Dodd Rd. Motorists should anticipate the following traffic impacts due to project work:
    • Hwy 149/Dodd Rd. from Wentworth Ave. to Delaware Ave. closed for relocation and replacing gas mains through late July.
    • Hwy 149/Dodd Rd. traffic will be shifted and lanes will be narrowed from Hwy 110 to Lake Dr. to replace and relocate gas main through mid-August.
  • There are several other road, lane and trail/sidewalk closures.

Hwy 169 in Belle Plaine, Jordan

  • Hwy 169 will be a single lane with head to head traffic traveling on the southbound lanes from just south of Hwy 282 to north of Hwy 25 through mid-August. Note: For business access, use Hwy 25. 
  • Hwy 169 will be a single lane with head to head traffic traveling on the southbound lanes from south of Hwy 25 to Hwy 19 through mid-September.

Hwy 169 in Champlin

  • All Hwy 169 traffic is a single lane in each direction on the southbound roadway between the Mississippi River and Hwy 610 through late September.
  • 101st Ave. east of Hwy 169 is closed through September.
  • The ramp from WB Hwy 610 to NB Hwy 169 will be closed through late September.
