Transportation system resilience
What we know
Climate change impacts the way we build, operate, and maintain transportation infrastructure. A warmer and wetter Minnesota causes risks to our roads, bridges, culverts, and pipes.
Why this is important
Minnesota’s climate is getting wetter and warmer. Extreme weather is already disrupting the transportation system. Projections show more extreme precipitation is on the way.
What we’re doing
- Supporting projects that make the transportation system more resilient through the federal Promoting Resilient Operations for Transformative Efficient, and Cost-saving Transportation (PROTECT) program
