Intelligent Compaction (IC)
The Intelligent Compaction method involves compaction using an instrumented roller; a self-propelled roller integrated with a global navigation satellite system and onboard documentation system that can display real-time color-coded maps of roller location, number of passes, roller speeds, and amplitude and vibration frequencies of the roller drum.
Intelligent Compaction is used to assist with:
- Optimizing compaction efficiency
- Achieving uniform compaction and surface coverage
- Identifying weak spots
- Identifying non-compactable area
Paver Mounted Thermal Profiling (PMTP)
The Paver Mounted Thermal Profiling method uses a continuous monitoring system that provides readings of the surface temperature of the mat immediately behind the paver screed during placement operations to assist with determining temperature segregation.
