MnDOT invites comments on draft Greater Minnesota Transit Investment Plan
ST. PAUL, Minn. – The public is invited to comment on the Minnesota Department of Transportation’s draft Greater Minnesota Transit Investment Plan. The comment period will be from March 13 to April 11.
The plan provides a 20-year strategic plan for transit in Greater Minnesota and recommends additional service and estimates funding needed to support the legislative target of meeting 90 percent of public transit need in Greater Minnesota by 2025.
The plan, which is updated every five years, was first released for public comment in late 2016. MnDOT extended the timeline of finalizing the plan to address comments received. The plan can be accessed at www.minnesotago.org. The public can make comments by emailing firstname.lastname@example.org.
MnDOT supports 41 transit systems in the state, including urban areas, tribal and rural systems made up of county and multicounty systems.
The plan’s objective is to improve mobility options for all Greater Minnesotans regardless of age, ethnicity, income or disability by preserving the current public transit systems and investing in service improvements.
