Public open house April 1 for Highway 60 Lake Crystal project

MANKATO, Minn. – The Minnesota Department of Transportation invites the public to attend an open house on Tuesday, April 1 from 4 to 6 p.m. at Lake Crystal City Hall, 100 East Robinson Street, to learn about the upcoming Highway 60 Lake Crystal project, in preparation for construction expected to begin in April. There is no formal presentation planned, and attendees are welcome to arrive anytime.

Staff from MnDOT and the contractor will be present at the open house to provide more information about the project and answer questions.

The project includes reconstructing Highway 60 from Blue Earth County Road 20 to Blue Earth County Road 112 and utility replacement in coordination with the City of Lake Crystal. The project also includes bridge repairs, intersection improvements, construction of a pedestrian trail and lighting.

Construction on the project is expected to begin in mid or late April and continue until fall, weather permitting.  Traffic will be detoured during construction. Visit the project website for detour information.

Mathiowetz Construction was awarded the project with a bid of $18,365,360.24.
