I-35W Northbound ramps at Black Dog Road will close Sunday, March 24, due to flooding

Ramps will remain closed through fall 2019 due to the I-35W Minnesota River Bridge Project

ROSEVILLE, Minn. – Motorists will need to find an alternate route to access Black Dog Road from northbound I-35W in Burnsville on Sunday, March 24 due to high water from the Minnesota River.

Beginning at 8 p.m. Sunday, March 24, crews will close the I-35W northbound ramps at Black Dog Road due to flooding from the Minnesota River.

Note: These ramps may close earlier than 8 p.m. Sunday, March 24, if water rises earlier than predicted.

Crews had already planned to close the northbound I-35W ramps at Black Dog Road in early April to complete work as part of the I-35W Minnesota River Bridge replacement project that is currently underway. Once the ramps close on Sunday, the ramps will remain closed through early fall.

When a road or ramp is closed, it is illegal to travel in that area. Motorists can be fined up to $1,000 and/or 90 days in jail. In addition, if travelers need to be rescued from a closed road, other expenses and penalties will apply.
