Rains causing flooding on Minnesota highways in Rock and Nobles Counties

I-90 near South Dakota border closed; Hwy 59 north of Worthington remains closed

MANKATO, Minn. — (10 a.m.) Recent rains are causing flooding on Minnesota highways in Rock and Nobles Counties. Interstate 90 at Beaver Creek near South Dakota border closed around 9:30 a.m. today. Hwy 59 at the north edge of Worthington remains closed from overnight flooding at this time.

Highways closed as of 10 a.m. Thursday, June 21:

  • I-90 at Beaver Creek – both eastbound and westbound
  • Hwy 59 north of Worthington

Overnight several sections of Hwy 75, Hwy 59 north of Worthington and Interstate 90 were flooded. MnDOT is closely monitoring the situation and will provide updates as information becomes available. However, motorists should be alert to rising waters throughout the day and be prepared to turn around if necessary.

The Minnesota Department of Transportation warns motorists that driving through water is dangerous.  Vehicles can be swept away in only several inches of moving water. Motorists are encouraged to check 511mn.org for the latest road information.
