Hwy 74 in Whitewater Wildlife Management Area has reopened
ELBA, Minn. – A 7-mile gravel stretch of Highway 74 north of Elba from Beaver to Weaver has reopened after a one-day closure because of water over the roadway, according to the Minnesota Department of Transportation.
The water receded and MnDOT determined the road was safe to travel on before removing the barriers that had blocked traffic. Rain on Wednesday night caused flooding over the roadway near milemarker 50 in northern Winona County.
The stretch from Beaver (Winona County Road 30) to Weaver (Wabasha County Road 26) is MnDOT’s only gravel road and is within the Whitewater Wildlife Management Area north of Elba. Whitewater State Park is south of the area and was not affected by road closure.
