Second Street closed in Winona June 5-9 for bridge demolition
WINONA, Minn. – Traffic will be rerouted at Second Street under the approach bridges in Winona from June 5-9 to allow workers to remove a span of Bridge 5900, according to the Minnesota Department of Transportation.
The approach spans on Bridge 5900 are being removed and replaced as part of the rehabilitation work taking place. The road closure means motorists should follow the posted detour or take alternate routes for the week while the work takes place.
Rehabilitation work on Bridge 5900 will continue until late 2019 or early 2020. Work crews are sandblasting, painting and installing reinforcing plates on the bridge, which is closed to traffic. Traffic continues in both directions on the new bridge, which was completed in 2016.
Follow construction progress on the project website at www.mndot.gov/winonabridge.
Motorists should always be attentive, drive with caution, slow down in work zones and never enter a road blocked with barriers or cones.
