I-94 traffic shift between Evansville, Garfield begins July 14
DETROIT LAKES, Minn. — Motorists on Interstate 94 between Evansville and Garfield will encounter a traffic shift starting Friday, July 14, as crews begin resurfacing the eastbound lanes and re-decking two bridges.
Traffic will be reduced to a single lane in each direction using the current westbound lanes.
Full access to the Evansville, Brandon and Garfield ramps will be maintained using temporary crossovers. However, some ramps will close for a short time once paving work begins later this summer. Additional notice will be provided prior to any ramp closures.
The speed limit has been lowered to 60 mph in the work zone.
The overall project includes resurfacing both directions of I-94 between Highway 79 and Highway 114, and replacing the decks on the Highway 79 and Highway 114 bridges. The work will run through 2018.
Michels Corporation of Brownsville, Wis., is the primary contractor for the $23 million dollar project.
