Westbound Hwy 10 in Elk River now open; expect delays as road closes intermittently May 25

ST. CLOUD, Minn. (5 p.m.) – All lanes of westbound Highway 10 at Lake Orono will remain open on Friday, May 25 for Memorial weekend traffic.

Contractor crews are able to complete the necessary work without closing the westbound lanes in an effort to lessen the potential for delays to motorists traveling Highway 10.

Memorial Day holiday travelers are also reminded that eastbound Highway 10 at Lake Orono in Elk River is reduced to a single lane 24 hours per day, and all lanes of Highway 10 at Lake Orono are shifted to narrow, temporary lanes with a reduced speed limit, through mid-October 2018.

The work and closures are part of the Highway 10 Lake Orono bridge replacement project in west Elk River.

When complete in fall 2018, the project will replace the existing 75-year-old Highway 10 bridges spanning Lake Orono with new, modern bridges; resurface Highway 10 between Joplin Street NW and Xenia Ave NW; improve the Highway 10/Joplin Street/185th Avenue intersection; construct a new trail with river crossing between Gary Street NW and Simonet Drive NW; install new drainage infrastructure and make other improvements.
