Hwy 71 detour between Itasca State Park and Lake George begins Sept. 5
BEMIDJI, Minn. — Motorists on Highway 71 will encounter a detour beginning Monday, September 5 as crews begin a resurfacing project between Itasca State Park and Lake George.
The detour follows Hubbard County Road 4 and Highway 34. It is expected to last until mid-October, weather permitting.
Mark Sand and Gravel Co. is the contractor for the $2.56 million project. It includes the construction of four turn lanes on Highway 71, along with the installation of intersection lighting and an extension of the bypass lane at Highway 200 near Itasca State Park.
