Hwy 212 Glencoe roundabout project and detour begin May 6

WILLMAR, Minn. – The Minnesota Department of Transportation will begin the Highway 212 roundabout project in Glencoe on May 6.

MnDOT, in partnership with McLeod County, is building a single-lane roundabout at the intersection of Highway 212 and Morningside Drive in Glencoe. Work includes the addition of ADA-accessible sidewalks and a multiuse trail on all sides of the roundabout.
Work is expected to conclude Aug. 30. Construction dates are subject to change depending on weather and other unforeseeable circumstances.

Traffic impacts
A detour of Highway 212 is required to complete the project (see attached map). Travelers will be routed to McLeod County Road 1, McLeod County Road 3, and Highway 22.

Project benefits and cost
Benefits of the project include improved traffic flow, and enhanced safety for drivers and pedestrians. The roundabout will slow vehicle speeds and lower the risk of serious and fatal crashes. Mathiowetz Construction is the contractor, and the project cost is approximately $5.1 million.
